A Little Flutter!

Last week I started feeling a little something going on in the lower part of my stomach but really wasnt for sure what it was. I assumed that it was gas at first but then it kept on so I was pretty sure it was the baby. That same movement has continued this week so it really must be :) I'm still waiting for a big kick but I'm sure that I'll really be hating it when I'm trying to sleep at night.

I went to the doctor for my regular check up yesterday. I'm measuring as I should be and the baby's heartbeat was back up to 150 from 139 the previous week at the ultrasound. I've also been having what is called round ligament pain. It only happens when I bend over and stand up quickly. It feels like a really bad cramp in my lower stomach. The doctor said that its just the muscles stretching, and in my opinion it is more than welcome to stop at any time! I've been reading breastfeeding books and the what to expect book but nothing really prepared me to read on The Bump this week that I could experience leaky boobs at 21 weeks!!! It is way too early for that stuff to be starting.

The baby is the size of a banana this week and weighs about 12.2 ounces. FYI...if the baby is a girl she has already developed 6 million eggs in her womb, who knew?

I'm making the trip home this weekend since last week the weather was too bad. In order to prepare for Sara's wedding in October I need to try on a potential bridesmaid dress. That should make me feel good and pregnant if I didnt before then!

20 Weeks and Counting!

I cant believe that I am exactly halfway through my pregnancy. It seemed like time was creeping along when I was only at 10 or 12 weeks and now its flying by. I've noticed that the simplest things aren't so simple anymore. Going up and down the steps to do laundry, hiking a leg up in the shower to shave or just getting into bed at night sometimes feels like I cant breath. I can only imagine that things will get worse.

I haven't been sleeping that well this week because Lance was so kind and gave me some of bug that he got. So I have a runny nose, headache, sneezing, and little to no sleep. I am exhausted. I was supposed to go home this weekend but since it snowed up here and its only 14 degrees I really don't feel safe traveling by myself. So next weekend will have to do.

So onto the big news. We went for our 20 week ultrasound on Wednesday morning. One of the first images that came on the screen was the babies face and hands. The ultrasound tech counted all of the fingers and toes (their so cute). That part made me cry more than any other. I know one thing....our baby is very active even though I have yet to feel any of that yet. He/she kept on putting its hands over its head and extending its arms like a crazy goose. It was really hard for her to get a good profile picture or any good picture because the baby was so active. Lance kept trying to figure out if it was a boy or girl even though we've decided that we want it to be a surprise. He didnt see anything which tells me that he really didnt even know what he was looking for. The ultrasound tech did say that the baby is now due on May 26th instead of May 29th. I guess the next time we'll see the baby will be when its born!

This week the baby is the size of a cantaloupe which explains my growing belly. Its tastebuds are now working even though all it has to taste is the nasty amnoitic fluid. I think we have finally settled on a girl and boys name but of course that'll be a surprise too! :)

No Movement Yet

I've been waiting patiently for some movement to be happening in my belly but still nothing yet. On Saturday night we went over to our friends house to celebrate New Years. Needless to say since two of us are pregnant and one is breastfeeding I brought over a non alcoholic punch that was pretty yummy. Lots of appetizers and 3 hours of board games later ( I know, we're wild) it was midnight. I did however find out that both of my friends didnt feel any baby movement until almost week 22!!! That is too long for me to wait!

Baby Wealing is the size of a mango this week and weighs about 8.5 ounces. He/she is also working on developing their 5 senses!

Lance and I surveyed the soon to be remodeling situation of two of the four rooms upstairs. He wants to do two rooms at once since everything will be a mess anyways. He'll tear out walls, ceilings, windows and add closets, possibly a bathroom and new flooring. I'm hoping to get it finished in plenty of time before the baby gets here. Walking up and down the stairs isnt so easy anymore so maybe he'll put in an elevator too :)
